Papal Protection of the Jews

Writing in 1272, Gregory X forbids forced baptisms, anti-Semitic violence, or deprivation of the rights or property of Jews. As Jews were not allowed to testify against Christians, Gregory says that Christians may not testify against Jews. Vehemently denounces the blood libel.
